Computers in Scientific Discovery III - Travel
Some useful tourism links:The conference is held at the home of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Ghent University. This is the building S9 on the campus De Sterre, Krijgslaan 281, 9000 Ghent.
By Air
Ghent is approximately 50km west of Brussels where the Belgian national airport is: Brussels Airport. From there you can use the train to get to Ghent.Alternatively some low cost carriers land at Brussels South Charleroi Airport which is approximately 60km south of Brussels and 100km from Ghent. Traveling from Brussels South by public transport will take you to Brussels first, or you can take the bus to the train station of Charleroi Sud. By Train
The national train operator is NMBS/SNCB. Their international travel planner can help you traveling to Ghent. The best train station to reach the conference venue as well as the hotels is "Ghent St Pieters".If you are traveling from Brussels Airport, fill in "brussels nat". Trains run every 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the time of the day.
If you are traverling from Brussels South, fill in "charleroi sud". Trains run every 30 to 60 minutes.
By public transport
From the train station of Ghent Sint Pieters you can reach the conference venue by public transport (tram/bus).Take the main exit of the train station and turn left. You can take busses 70, 71, 72, 76, 77 from platform 4 to "De Sterre".
You can also take the exit to the "Tramtunnel". and take the tram 1 in the direction of "Flanders Expo" to "Textielinstituut" from there it's another 5 minutes walk.
